I am in Assam right now!

Day 1: The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) has been passed in Rajya Sabha. The people of Assam are against the bill, apparently. Last few days, Assam has witnessed vigorous protests from every single soul living on this soil.I am in Assam right now. I am a student at Tezpur University, perusing my B. Tech in Computer Science. With growing protests in Assam, curfew has been imposed in almost all parts of Assam. The internet has been shut down in 10 districts. The roads are filled with military personnel and more are on their way. The paratroopers from Kashmir are being sent to Assam. People are forced to be inside their homes and they are being beaten if they are found loitering. The military has open fired on the people today and at least three have been killed. I have even heard that they barged into the hostels of Assam University and fired some blank shots. They are turning this state into another Kashmir. All the shops have been closed in the state and the movement of vehicles constrained. The food in our hostels are decreasing every hour, and soon we will have nothing to eat as there will be no supply of food to the hostels and we can’t buy anything from the closed shops. All the trains and flights to and from Assam have been cancelled amidst the protests. Students are having end-terms right now in our university. Rather than studying, they are on the streets fighting for something they never asked for. In two days, our exams were supposed to be over and we could have happily gone to our home. Home is a distant dream now. I don’t know how long I have to stay here, without internet, food and other basic supplies.CAB isn’t about religion to Assam. CAB posses a bigger problem to the people. With the passage of the law, people thrice than the current population of Assam will be given citizenship of India and the worst part is they will be dumped in Assam. Assam is a beautiful state, but with its limited amount of resources, it won’t be able to sustain such a drastic growth of population. Moreover, with a larger population of people than the indigenous people of Assam, they might lose their culture, their tradition, their everything. You will not get the news of what is happening in Assam right now. No major national news channel is covering this. I don’t have to explain you why. But you need to understand this, what you know and what you have seen, it’s nothing like that out here. The government has sent instructions to the media houses to not show what is happening in Assam as it might disturb the peace. Listen to me. We need help.DONOT LISTEN TO THE GOVERNMENT. Its not telling you the truth. People of Assam have rejected the idea of CAB. With the dismissal of internet, they can’t even voice it. They are forcing something on the people which they don’t ask for. This is dictatorship, not democracy. If you are reading this, you know me. I wasn’t born in Assam. I am not from Assam. But what is happening here is wrong. I can’t tell the truth alone to the world. I need help. Assam needs help. Please spread the news of what’s happening in Assam. This is important. HELP US.
